1. Aim of the competition:

Our goal is to promote triathlon and endurance sports in general.

2. Date and venue of the competition:

The event will take place in the mountain resort village Beliș-Fântânele, located at about 60km from Cluj-Napoca (Cluj county), on the 26th of August 2017 (Saturday).

3. Races, distances and age groups

Races:

Olympic distance:

  • 1,5km swimming
  • 39km road cycling
  • 9km running
  • age groups: under 20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50+
  • all age groups are divided into male and female categories

Half Ironman distance:

  • 1,9km swimming
  • 89km road cycling
  • 18km running
  • age groups: under 20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50+
  • all age groups are divided into male and female categories

Relay teams:

  • the same distances as for the solo racers
  • each member of the team has to accomplish one of the three stages of the race;
  • the overall time of the relay team is calculated as the sum of the individual times of its three members. 2 member teams are also welcome, in their case one of the members has to accomplish 2 stages.
  • categories: men, women and mixed (at least one female member)

4. Race courses

Swimming

Starting point is in the water near the Beliș-Fântânele barrier. The race course is the 1500m, respectively 1900m distance leading from the starting point to the transition area. Regardless of the temperature of the water, we recommend that the racers wear neoprene wetsuits.

Cycling

Half Distance: TRANZITIE - PC2(4.5km) + 4 X PC2-PC4-PC2 (80km) + PC2 - TRANZITIE (4.5km) - total 89km
Olimpic: TRANZITIE - PC2(4.5km) + 2 x PC2-PC3-PC2 (30km) + PC2 - TRANZITIE (4.5km) - total 39km

 

Observance of the traffic rules along the entire length of the track is required.

 

Road traffic will be restricted along the race route.

Running

The running course of the racetrack is 4,5km long.

Half Ironman competitors have to complete the running racetrack 2 times to the turning point and back, a total distance of 18km, with approximately 300m elevation difference.

Olympic distance competitors have to complete the running racetrack once to the turning point and back, a total distance of 9km, with approximately 150m elevation difference.

5. Water temperature and weather conditions

Water temperature in the summer is usually around 20-24 degrees Celsius. If water temperature falls below 18 degrees, the swimming race might be substituted by a short running stage! Neoprene wetsuits are allowed for water temperatures below 25 degrees; if the water temperature rises above 25 degrees, neoprene wetsuits may cause overheating, as a result competitors will not be allowed to wear them.

6. Conditions for participation

By signing a declaration on their own responsibility and completing the registration form, the participants commit to obeying the rules and regulations presented in this section. Special cases must be dealt with directly with the Event Director.

7. Registration

Participants will subscribe to the competition on their own responsibility, organizers do not assume any responsibility regarding the participants’ health conditions. For this purpose all participants have to sign a declaration stating that they are taking part in the competition on their own responsibility. For minors the declaration has to be signed by one of the parents or guardians.

Registration must be made online. Your registration is valid only after paying the registration fee. Invalid registrations are automatically removed after 5 days.

9. Equipment required

Participants are required to wear the following equipment:

  • Functional bicycle (road bike recommended), equipped with functional breaking system; to be verified by organizers at the check-in.
  • Thoroughly fixed cycling helmet of adequate size; to be verified by organizers at the check-in, and continuously monitored by volunteers all along the cycling trail.

Competitors must put on and fasten their helmets before the cycling stage, before getting on the bike; loosening and taking off the helmets allowed only after leaving the bicycles in the transition area! Failure to comply with this rule will be penalized with +5 minutes!

For relay teams, the above rules only apply to the team-member competing in the cycling stage.

10. Race day schedule

Friday, 25th of August 2017:

  • Technical briefing
  • Competitors receive their racing kits

26 august 2017:

  • 7.00 – Short briefing.
  • 7.15 - Transition area opens.
  • 8.15 – Transition area closes.
  • 8.30 - Start for half distance.
  • 9.00 - Start for olimpic distance.
  • 17:00 awards ceremony

11. Time limits

Half Distance:

  • Swimming – 90 minutes from start until the beginning of the cycling course.
  • Cycling – 4h30min or 6h from the start until the beginning of the running course.
  • Running - 3h or 9h from the start.

Olympic Distance:

  • Swimming – 90 minutes from start until the beginning of the cycling course.
  • Cycling – 3h30min or 5h from the start until the beginning of the running course. Running - 1h or 6h from the start.

Competitors who overlap the time limits will be have their chip withdraw. He can continue the course if he wants, but they will show up as DNF in results.

Marshals will be monitoring the whole race course, ensuring compliance with the rules of fair play. The fouls listed below will be penalized with +5 minutes: drafting and non-compliance with the traffic rules.
